Crestron Masters 2025: A Preview
The annual training and collaboration event will be held in Madrid in May
January 15

The first Crestron Masters event was held in 2002, and Crestron’s Pro Community Global Director, Rich Sasson, has seen the event grow — exponentially. “We started with, I believe, 12 people,” he recalls.

“And now it’s grown to over 4,000 certified designers and programmers worldwide.”

Last year’s Crestron Masters event was clear evidence of that growth, drawing 1,000 attendees to Orlando, Florida. The 2025 event will be held May 13-15 in Spain at the Madrid Marriott Auditorium Hotel & Conference Centre, and Sasson and his team expect another 400 attendees. (EMEA events are usually smaller than those held in the US.) “The difference here is that the European events draw a more global crowd — New Zealand, Australia, China, Hong Kong, Africa, and believe it or not, the United States, too,” says Sasson. “We alternate years between Europe and the US.”

The Instructors

For those unfamiliar with the three-day event, Crestron Masters is a continuing education program for certified programmers and masters of technology architects. “These are people who have invested an intense amount of time in their careers, and they want to stay up on the latest and greatest technology that Crestron has to offer,” says Sasson. “From designing systems with new technologies such as DM NVX AV-over-IP and AirMedia that live on the network to new programming languages like Crestron Construct, we offer a lot of deep dives.”

The courses are taught by engineering and product management teams — and the people who actually write the software and firmware for the hardware Crestron designs. That group includes members of the Crestron Diamond community. “These are folks who have attended at least 12 Crestron Masters events,” Sasson explains. “They bring their real-world experience as certified programmers to the classroom, providing the perspective of the true field warriors to really create great experiences for their users. They help teach, whether that’s HTML5, C#, or SIMPL Windows. They're showing what they are doing through driver development and the design of their systems that may be different from what other people are doing.”

An Evolving Curriculum

The coursework is constantly evolving, keeping pace with Crestron advancements and the broader market. For example: “This year, we will be introducing all of our Visual AI technology and teaching it as part of our Intelligent Video course that we offer at Crestron Masters for our Intelligent Video Certified engineers,” Sasson says. “Attendees will also see the new features of Crestron Construct UI as well, and from a design perspective, we are going to offer courses on creating secure environments, advanced unified communication solutions, scaling network enterprise spaces, and designing robust DM NAX Audio-over-IP systems.”

“We're going to talk about how to really do a deep dive with third-party application integration with one of our favorite instructors, Mr. Jon Ottesen. We’ll present a lot of great ideas and information to help the Masters community be at the forefront of the market, getting them ahead of the competition. That's why the Crestron Masters community comes to this event — to be a leader in their market share and their industry, and to be the people that folks want to go to for their expertise to help them create incredible user experiences.”

Modern Work at Crestron Masters

There’s a keynote address, too; one that will be streamed globally — and that presentation will focus on modern work solutions, which is another aspect of this year’s Crestron Masters event. Modern Work at Crestron Masters is a two-day immersive event that provides training and expert insights on technology solutions for designing a modern workplace. That all culminates with the Crestron Modern Workplace Certification, a new Crestron Technical Institute (CTI) training certification focused on technology solutions for designing those hybrid, high-impact rooms and systems that are in high demand. That certification will be available globally online through CTI as well. (Watch this space for more info.)

Crestron also works with a wide range of manufacturers to bring clients the systems and experiences that best fit their needs — and this year, many of those partners are presenting dedicated training sessions. “These are 30-minute technical dives into their technology, comprising a 90-minute block on Thursday morning by each of our platform partners,” says Sasson. “They're coming with answers: How do you design with it? How do you program with it? How do you create that great integrated experience with their technology and Crestron?” While the event is commercially focused, residential integrators will find driver development courses extremely helpful.

The goal of all of this is to help Crestron Masters attendees create solutions perfectly tailored to any and every customer. “It takes designers and programs to work together to create those unified experiences that are easy for customers to understand — and aren’t intimidating.” And because Crestron Masters is an in-person, interactive event that encourages two-way communication — not just “lecture halls” — the combined knowledge of attendees and presenters is on full display.

“The most important thing about Crestron Masters is not just learning from Crestron, but rather the power of networking effectively and intelligently with each other, right?” notes Sasson. “It's a partnership. The Crestron Masters community is an incredibly important community to Crestron because these really are folks who are thought leaders who care about what they do, and we are constantly striving to help one another succeed.

“By working collaboratively, we all can create an incredible experience for users that makes us collectively proud to be in this industry.”
