Available in both card and surface mount form factors, the DM-NVX-E760 enables easy AVoIP integration with all DM® and DM Lite® transmitters to add the largest selection of endpoints to the system designer’s toolkit. Let’s address the elephant in the room; why hasn’t Crestron built a native DM NVX wall plate solution?

The DM NVX platform is built around FPGA technology, a Field Programmable Gate Array, which in the simplest of terms is a reprogrammable chip. An FPGA provides great advantages over silicon ASICs in that they provide the ability to upgrade and enhance the product through software and firmware updates. The downside of an FPGA, as compared to an ASIC (application-specific integrated circuit), is that they generate more heat. A wall plate transmitter built around an FPGA would need to be quite large and employ active cooling (a fan) to dissipate the heat. While some vendors have chosen to build these compromised solutions, at Crestron we’ve taken a different approach. The DM-NVX-E760 HDBaseT to AVoIP bridging solution solves this problem by supporting a wide array of transmitters that can be deployed in your AVoIP ecosystem.  With the DM-4KZ and DM Lite transmitters you can implement slim and elegant single-gang solutions without having to compromise and accept a bulky 3-gang device that introduces fan noise and vacuums up dust. With all the DM NVX products designed around an FPGA, we’re able to deliver frequent and meaningful product updates that provide a continuous delivery of value to our customers. Finally, for those that feel compelled to point out that a native AVoIP wall plate encoder is simpler than the DM-NVX-E760 and DM wall plate transmitter, “It’s one less point of failure”; it is worth remembering that DM transmitters are the most successful and widely deployed HDBaseT products, with literally millions of endpoints installed world-wide. They have a proven track record for robust and reliable operation in mission critical applications, providing years of trouble-free operation. Through our Crestron Technical Institute, we’ve trained tens of thousands of AV installers around the world, so the technology is well understood by the AV installer community. Furthermore, in many technology refresh projects there may be an HDBaseT transmitter already installed in the space. The DM-NVX-E760 allows customers to leverage these investments, providing a bridge to a future of AVoIP.
